Puerto Rico Recap...

Puerto Rico is awesome! A great experience for sure! My first time filming professional surfing on the ASP tour. The crew I'm working within is amazing and it's great fun. Lots of things were happening. History was made in the surfing world. Kelly Slater won his 10th World Title, epic! See his 2010 season summarized in a video here. On the other side, his biggest competitor over the years, Andy Irons died a few days before. Everybody was in shock. Lots of emotions going on...

But life has to go on.

On the first days I went surfing too. But my wrist hurts pretty bad since quiet a long time now and doesn't really getting better. I can't take off. I need to go to the doc again! So just two sessions for me in Puerto Rico. Sad but true.
Sure I took some photos of the missed waves and will upload them asap on my flickr. Just right after all the Indonesia photographs are uploaded...

Some preview shots here:

We gonna head back to Austria in two days.

Going to Puerto Rico

Yeah! I can't believe it myself! Lucky me is going to Puerto Rico for the next two weeks working at the next ASP tour stop. I will join the team and work with some friends on an episode for Surf Chronicles, a Surfing TV Magazine by Red Bull.

I found two episodes on the web, I bet there are more online. Just look for it.

Episode 7:

Episode 1:

I'm really looking forward for this opportunity!
This event could turn out to be a historical, because Mr. Slater is on the brink of winning his 10th world title.

Alright! My stuff is packed, my board is waxed and my batteries are fully charged!

Burn Ignite :: Ride :: feat Steve Berra

I just came across this little movie. It's not new, but it's just sooo good I had to post it too. It seems that all those energy drink companies out there really care about making sick films! I dig that! Great camerawork combined with some neat VFX shot on a 5d II with PL lenses...

Indonesia pics on my Flickr

I started uploading photographs by Luke and me on my Flickr some time ago. Today I added some more... there are already 292 photos online which show roughly our first three weeks of the trip. So a lot more is coming ;) And I'm also working on a trip-movie. We have some really nice footage and I can't wait to show it to everybody! But I'm doing all this stuff in my spare time, so it will take some time until everything is done and online, it's a lot of work. And on the side I need to make some money too ;) It's actually a good time right now.. things are working out good jobwise. Soon I can tell you more... :)

Here are some of my favorite Indonesia photos so far:

All photos shot by Luke and me with Nikon and Panasonic gear.

Nike - More Than The Run - Sneakerness 2010

Things are quite busy around me right now. I did a few jobs and one was a little recap-video of the Sneakerness 2010 for Nike. Was fun!

The video appeared all over the web.

_nike.com
_Sneakerness website
_supercity.at blog
_Sneakerbob.de
_Sneakerized
_hypebeast.com
_krueps.de
_various Facebook sites (Nike Sportwear, RUN VIE, Sneakerized, snkrbook, ...)

All shot handheld with "my still not hacked, but soon" GH-1 with the Pana 20/f1,7, FD 50/f1,4 and the kit. For the little statement of Bobbito Garcia I was using a Sennheisser ME66 plugged into my Zoom H4n.

I did also some Making Of photos which Nike used in their books shown at the Sneakerness.

Behind the scenes:

Paul Nicklen

Just stumbled upon this: Paul Nicklen describes his most amazing experience as a National Geographic photographer - coming face-to-face with one of Antarctica's most vicious predators.

In The Field - Greg Hunt

I think I saw his filmwork for the first time back in 2000 in the Alien Workshop video Photosynthesis. Absolutely loved it! Since than Greg Hunt has worked on dozens films, commercials and music videos. His work always stands out, he always has this special perspective, seeing things from a different angle. So this interview is a great inspiration again!

Some more Panasonic AG-AF101/AF100 news

Sounds so good:

It can shoot in 1080/60p (1080/50p in PAL). That's huge! NTSC/PAL is switchable.

Handles are removeable for easier rigging.

Check out the report by Barry Green over at dvxuser.com
The camera will cost around 5000€.

Fiberglass and Megapixels

I need to see this one!

Stumbled over it on dancarrphotography.com and I'm surprised as well that I haven't heard anything about the movie yet. Won tons of awards! The trailer looks awesome. Read the review on Dan Carr's site if you are curious. Finally a movie about the photo- & cinematographers out there...
