GH2 Skate montage

Panasonic teamed up with filmmaker Ty Evans & photographer Atiba Jefferson to make this little montage:

ATIBA EVANS Panasonic GH2 Skate from skatefairy on Vimeo.

Finally a clever marketing decision from Panasonic. The GH2 really rocks it! Right now there is no better DSLR for shooting video out there! Let's see what Canon is answering... exciting times for the tech-geeks :)

The using a sweet handle too.

Screenshots (cropped from the youtube version):

The 20mm/f1.7 pancake is also mentioned on the vimeo page.

Can't wait for the 25mm/f1.4 and the videooptimized 12-50mm/f2.5-3.3 lenses :)

Burn Ignite :: Ride :: feat Steve Berra

I just came across this little movie. It's not new, but it's just sooo good I had to post it too. It seems that all those energy drink companies out there really care about making sick films! I dig that! Great camerawork combined with some neat VFX shot on a 5d II with PL lenses...

Burn Ignite :: Ride :: feat Steve Berra (OFFICIAL HD) from Burn Ignite on Vimeo.

Steve Berra (The Berrics) joins Mexican skaters Jesus Gonzalez, Eder Martinez, Mario Saenz, Angel Santiago and American Luis Tolentino for this Burn Ignite film, shot on location in Mexico City.

This film was created alongside two short-form documentaries, one featuring Jess Kimura and the all girl hardcore snowboarding film collective Peep Show, the other is a portrait that celebrates the electric lyrics and gritty beat artistry of rapper/poet Julius Wright, aka Lyrical God.

Directed by Garth Davis
DOP: Greig Fraser
Camera: Canon 5D II (PL mount)
Music written produced & performed by Django Django

In The Field - Greg Hunt

I think I saw his filmwork for the first time back in 2000 in the Alien Workshop video Photosynthesis. Absolutely loved it! Since than Greg Hunt has worked on dozens films, commercials and music videos. His work always stands out, he always has this special perspective, seeing things from a different angle. So this interview is a great inspiration again!

Wizard Smoke

A short skate flick done by SALAZAR Productions a motion picture collective based in Vancouver.
So good! No need for fancy motiongraphics in post :) Powdered paint, flour and natural light are the way to go. Love the flare coming in at 1:15min. The spot at 5:30 looks awesome too.

Pierre Wikberg

Pierre Wikberg revolutionized the snow-movie business back in 2001 when working with the Robot Food crew. His filming style and approach to show the riders was extremly fresh. Until this time I was thinking that "Simple Pleasures" 1997 & "Decade" 1998 by MDP were THE movies :)
But Pierre put the whole thing to the next level. Today I still love his old movies. Makes me wanna go on the mountains.

Check out this clip Pierre edited together in 2002.

Most of the footage is from :
Sensored - A film he did with Daniel Franck.
Transcendence - Absinthe´s 2001 release.
Afterbang - First Robot Food movie from 2002

Check out his blog, flickr and twitter (I´m not really into that ;))
Interviews here, here & here.

Awesome album with nostalgic clips on Vimeo by Pierre. I personally love Peter Line´s run back in 1994 :)

Today he is filming with DC and working on a full lenght video.

The Spot by Quiksilver

Check out this nice presentation concept by quiksilver. Make sure you keep watching past the first 15 seconds. Creative and entertaining!

Snow & Skate Montage

I updated my website with a short montage of old miniDV footage (2006/07) to show of some filming skills. Let´s hope that the next project will be in HD :)
I also added a Paris section under photography.
